The One Thing Session
One session. One particular challenge. A practical way forward.
Sometimes, you don’t feel as though you need ongoing therapy, you just need some focused support with the one thing that is feeling particularly difficult right now.
The One Thing Session is a 60-minute online session for mums who would like help with a specific personal, parenting or family challenge.
Perhaps you’re feeling stuck in the same cycle, unsure how to respond to a particular situation or overwhelmed by so many thoughts that you can’t see a clear way forward. You might know that something needs to change but have no idea where to begin.
You don’t need to arrive with everything worked out. Simply bring the one thing you would like some help with, and we’ll gently unpick it together.
What could we explore?
Your “one thing” might be something you’re experiencing personally, such as:
feeling overwhelmed, stressed or emotionally drained
a specific worry that keeps going around in your head
confidence around a particular situation
feeling stuck in an unhelpful thought or behaviour pattern
struggling to manage your reactions when emotions run high
needing some practical ways to feel calmer and more in control
Or it might be a parenting or family challenge, such as:
finding tantrums or emotional outbursts difficult to manage
becoming stressed, reactive or shouty when things escalate
wanting to understand what may be sitting beneath your child’s behaviour
struggling with bedtime, separation, anxiety or another specific difficulty
feeling unsure about how best to support your child
wanting to respond differently but finding yourself falling into the same patterns
You may also have something completely different in mind. If you’re unsure whether your particular concern would be suitable for a One Thing Session, please get in touch before booking.
What can we achieve in one session?
The aim isn’t to promise that we’ll completely resolve a difficulty in an hour. Some challenges have developed over time and need more space, support or therapeutic work than a single session can provide.
What we can do is slow things down, look more closely at what has been happening and begin to make sense of it.
Together, we will:
explore the particular difficulty you have brought to the session
consider what may be triggering or maintaining it
identify the thoughts, feelings, behaviours or patterns involved
decide what feels most important to focus on first
create a realistic plan with practical, manageable strategies to try
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what may be going on, some practical next steps and a plan that feels achievable within your real life.

The One Thing Session costs £110 and includes:
a short pre-session questionnaire, so I can understand a little about what is happening before we meet
a focused 60-minute online session
personalised tools and strategies relevant to your situation
a manageable plan to help you move forward
a follow-up email summarising what we discussed and the strategies we agreed upon
The session takes place online, so you can join from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
What’s included?
One mum’s experience
“Highly recommend Corrina. She has a wealth of knowledge across many childhood issues and discusses them in a supportive and accessible way that makes each step of a process feel possible even in the chaos that can be parenting.”
Is this the right kind of support for me?
The One Thing Session may be a good fit if:
there is one particular issue you would like to focus on
you would value professional support and a fresh perspective
you are looking for practical strategies tailored to you
you are not sure whether you need or want ongoing therapy
you would like a self-contained session without any expectation to book again
It may not be the right format if you are experiencing several complex or longstanding difficulties, require urgent mental health support, or would benefit from a more thorough assessment and ongoing therapeutic support.
If it becomes clear that your concern needs more than one session, I will be honest with you about that. We can discuss the type of support that may be most appropriate, but there will never be any pressure to continue working with me.
-
Once you have booked your session, I’ll send you a short questionnaire to complete beforehand. This will help us use our time effectively and begin the session with a clearer idea of what you would most like help with.
During the session, you’ll have the space to talk openly and without judgement. We’ll unpick what has been happening, consider what might be keeping the difficulty going and work together to create practical next steps.
Afterwards, I’ll send you a personalised follow-up email summarising the main points, tools and strategies we discussed.
-
The session draws upon my experience and therapeutic training, but it is designed as a focused, one-off consultation rather than the beginning of an ongoing course of therapy.
If you are looking for deeper or ongoing therapeutic support, my standard initial consultation may be more appropriate.
-
Not at all. You can use the session to explore something affecting you personally, a parenting difficulty or a particular challenge within family life.
-
No. The One Thing Session is for you. We can explore what may be happening for your child and how you might support them, but your child will not attend the session themselves.
If you are looking for direct therapeutic support for your child, please visit my Children and Young People page.
-
Sometimes, one session will provide the clarity and practical direction someone needs. At other times, it may highlight something that would benefit from further exploration.
If I feel ongoing or alternative support would be helpful, I will explain this honestly and discuss possible next steps with you. There is no obligation to book another session.
-
One session cannot always resolve a difficulty completely—and I would never promise that it could. However, having dedicated time to understand what has been happening, recognise the patterns involved and develop a personalised plan can be a valuable first step.
