Support For Children & Young People

When your child is struggling, it can feel overwhelming for you too.

Maybe your child is anxious, scared at bedtime, worrying about school, or facing fears that feel bigger than them. Perhaps they seem constantly on edge, having meltdowns, or finding it hard to cope with emotions. You’ve tried reassurance, routines, maybe even Googled late at night for answers - but nothing seems to make a lasting difference. And all the while, you’re left wondering: How can I actually help my child?

That’s where I come in. I work with children and young people to help them understand their feelings, calm their worries, and build emotional resilience. And because parents are such a key part of the picture, I also support you with practical advice and strategies - so you feel confident knowing how to help at home too.

You might notice your child…

  • Struggles to settle at bedtime, often feeling anxious or scared in the dark.

  • Worries excessively about school, friends, or changes in routine.

  • Becomes upset, clingy, or panicky when away from you.

  • Has fears or phobias that stop them enjoying everyday life.

  • Seems to get “stuck” in big feelings and finds it hard to calm down.

  • Avoids certain situations, even when you know they’re safe.

As a parent, it’s exhausting to watch your child struggle and not know how to make it better. You want to be their safe place, but sometimes the worry, guilt, and helplessness can feel like too much.

With the right support, your child can:

  • Feel calmer and more confident in themselves.

  • Manage fears and worries in healthier, more effective ways.

  • Settle to sleep more easily at night.

  • Bounce back quicker when things don’t go their way.

  • Use their imagination as a powerful tool to regulate emotions.

  • Approach new situations with more resilience and self-belief.

  • Learn lifelong skills for handling anxiety and stress.

And you, as a parent, can feel more reassured, better equipped, and less alone in the process.

Why imagination therapy works so well for children

Children have incredible imaginations - they can dive into magical worlds, create vivid characters, and see possibilities adults might miss. I use something I call imagination therapy - because it takes this natural strength and channels it into something powerful and practical.

Imagination therapy is based on evidence-based clinical hypnosis, but explained and delivered in a way that feels fun, safe, and accessible for children. Using guided imagery, storytelling, and creative exercises, children learn to calm their bodies, shift their focus, and find new ways of coping with big feelings.

What if your child could learn, early on, how to use their imagination not just for play, but as a tool for feeling brave, calm, and in control? These are skills they can carry with them for life

My two-pronged approach

When I work with children, I don’t just see the child in isolation. I know that parents are such an important part of the picture too. That’s why my approach always includes:

1. Direct support for your child

Using imagination therapy, CBT, and playful techniques to help them build emotional regulation, manage fears, and feel more resilient.

2. Guidance and advice for you as a parent

So you feel confident in supporting your child at home, knowing what to say, what to do, and how to encourage progress without pressure.

This way, therapy isn’t just something that happens in the therapy room (or online). It becomes a set of tools and strategies your whole family can use day-to-day.

How sessions work

First session (90 mins): £120

This may be shorter depending on your child’s age and needs. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, and I’ll also talk to with you as the parent to get a full understanding of what’s been going on. One parent must accompany their child in all sessions.

Ongoing sessions (45-60 mins): £90

Each session is tailored completely to your child, depending on their age, personality, and goals.

Where:

Sessions take place in person at my Tunbridge Wells practice. Online therapy may be available for children aged 10+ depending on suitability.

Common questions parents ask

It’s a child-friendly way of describing clinical hypnosis. Children use guided imagination and stories to practise calming techniques, face fears safely, and build confidence.

What is imagination therapy?

Yes - always. Imagination therapy is gentle, collaborative, and child-led. Your child can stop or pause at any time, and everything is explained in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them.

Will my child be in control?

Yes. While part of the session is just with your child, I always involve you with guidance and strategies so you feel confident supporting them at home.

Do I get involved as a parent?
